Overview
Darksiders III uses a vert- style gameplay camera on ultrawide and its cutscenes/menus are pillarboxed to 16:9 by default; PCGamingWiki records WSGF gold awards for widescreen and ultrawidescreen categories but that reflects resolution support, not a clean image. A community-made modified executable from the WSGF forum (the 'Darksiders III UW Cutscenes Fix', updated for Patch 6) removes the cutscene/menu black bars, and a separate FOV Changer tool is needed to correct the narrow default FOV. Flawless Widescreen's repo only contains a module for the original Darksiders (1), NOT Darksiders III — a same-title trap — so it does not apply here; the WSGF-hosted exe replacement's safety could not be independently confirmed beyond forum reputation, so it is rated 'unknown' for online-fix safety.

Patch history & verification
currentSep 21, 2026
Confirmed via PCGamingWiki wikitext that ultrawidescreen notes list cutscenes as 16:9 with a link to the WSGF UW Cutscenes Fix, and fov=hackable requiring the FOV Changer tool or a hex edit. Verified the Flawless Widescreen repo XML lists only a 'Darksiders' (original) module, not Darksiders III, avoiding a same-title mismatch. Could not directly test or confirm file hash safety of the WSGF-hosted modified executable, so online_fix_safety is marked unknown rather than safe.
