Overview

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii pillarboxes/letterboxes at non-16:9 aspect ratios by default (PCGamingWiki rates both ultrawidescreen and multi-monitor as 'limited', pointing to DragonTweak as the fix). Lyall's actively maintained DragonTweak mod (latest release 0.0.6, 2026-01-21) ships with its 'Disable Pillarboxing' option enabled by default specifically for cutscenes/dialog, per the mod's own DragonTweak.ini comments, and an optional 'AllScenes' setting extends the fix everywhere else (including menus). No Flawless Widescreen module exists for this title.

RenoDXPCGamingWiki lists this as an HDR/tone-mapping improvement mod, not an ultrawide fix; included here only as a general-purpose visual mod also covered on the wiki, not a substitute for DragonTweak.

Patch history & verification

Second-pass re-check: Went past the README (which only said 'disable pillarboxing/letterboxing' with no scope) and read DragonTweak's actual shipped .ini config comments directly: the '[Disable Pillarboxing]' section is documented as covering 'cutscenes/dialog' and is Enabled=true by default, with a separate 'AllScenes' toggle to extend it further. This is concrete evidence the fix does correct cutscenes by default, so cutscene_support is upgraded from the previous conservative '16-9-pillarboxed' to 'ultrawide'. Also confirmed via the Codeberg releases API that the current version is 0.0.6 (2026-01-21), one release newer than what was previously recorded (README only listed 0.0.4 on the archived GitHub mirror). menu_support was left at '16-9' since the .ini shows menus require the separate AllScenes flag rather than being fixed by default, and I found no PCGamingWiki or dev statement confirming menu behavior specifically.

Verified via PCGamingWiki Video section (ultrawidescreen=limited, multimonitor=limited, both pointing to DragonTweak) and confirmed DragonTweak is actively maintained with an update dated 2026-01-21 that lists this game and a 'disable pillarboxing/letterboxing' feature. Could not independently verify whether FMV/pre-rendered cutscenes are also unlocked by the fix (README summary did not specify) - marked cutscene_support conservatively as still pillarboxed. Flawless Widescreen repo XML checked directly, no module found.
