Overview
Out of the box the game pillarboxes ultrawide screens, so 21:9 and 32:9 need Lyall's FFXVIFix. The fix removes the black bars in gameplay, scales the HUD correctly and adds FOV options. Some pre-rendered cutscenes stay 16:9, and a few full-screen effects may look wrong.

Patch history & verification
FFXVIFix 0.8.5Sep 23, 2026
PCGamingWiki lists ultrawide as 'hackable' via FFXVIFix. Confirmed the fix's feature list in the Codeberg README and the latest release tag (0.8.5) through the Codeberg API. Press reports mention leftover black bars in pre-rendered cutscenes. FWS repo has no FFXVI module. Single-player game, so online safety is low-risk. Exact Steam build number not confirmed.
