Overview

Octopath Traveler II ships with the same fixed-16:9 letterbox/pillarbox limitation typical of this engine's earlier titles, but it is well covered by Lyall's actively maintained Octopath2Fix (last updated June 2025), which removes the letterboxing, corrects FOV at any aspect ratio, and centers the HUD. One known caveat from the fix's own documentation: the 'porthole' view seen through some building windows renders at the wrong aspect ratio even with the fix applied. No Flawless Widescreen module exists or is needed since the dedicated fix covers it.

Patch history & verification

Current Steam buildSep 22, 2026
Verified via PCGamingWiki (ultrawidescreen=hackable, linking directly to Octopath2Fix) and by reading the Octopath2Fix Codeberg README, confirming it removes pillarboxing, fixes FOV, and centers HUD, with 79 commits and a most recent update dated 2025-06-08. Noted the fix's own documented 'porthole' aspect-ratio bug as a known limitation. Flawless Widescreen repo checked directly - no module found, consistent with the dedicated Lyall fix being the primary solution.
