Overview
The original engine has no ultrawide option: resolutions set in the registry are Vert-, and a proper Hor+ image needs MGE XE, the Morrowind FPS Optimizer, or the popular OpenMW engine replacement. Once fixed, the HUD stays unstretched at the screen edges and floating windows can be resized; WSGF reports the intro FMV is stretched.

Patch history & verification
GOTY Edition 1.6.1820 (final official patch)Sep 28, 2026
Verified via PCGamingWiki (ultrawide hackable, registry resolutions Vert-, MGE XE / OpenMW recommended) and WSGF (Hor+ via hack, HUD 'Proper', FMVs stretched; FPS Optimizer FOV aspect values). Checked Flawless Widescreen public repo (fws_repo.xml): no module for this game. WSGF says FMVs are stretched rather than pillarboxed; cutscene field kept conservative. OpenMW ultrawide behavior not separately confirmed by a source I opened - medium confidence.
