Overview

Tales of Arise has no native ultrawide support out of the box (FOV and UI are built for 16:9), but Flawless Widescreen ships a dedicated, actively-listed module that removes the black bars and corrects HUD positioning (the module's changelog specifically notes a 2022 update 'to correct HUD position'). Gameplay is playable in 21:9 and 32:9 with FWS; FMV and some in-engine cutscenes remain pillarboxed at 16:9 even with the fix, per PCGamingWiki's own 'hackable' rating.

Patch history & verification

Confirmed via PCGamingWiki (ultrawidescreen=hackable, pointing to its own Ultra-widescreen fix section) and by directly inspecting the Flawless Widescreen fws_repo.xml, which contains a maintained 'TalesOfArise' module (latest changelog entry 2022-09-10: 'Updated fix for Tales of Arise - correct HUD position'). Could not independently confirm current-build compatibility beyond FWS's own changelog dates (last confirmed update 2022), so treating cutscene pillarboxing as still present per wiki notes.
